JN Bank Limited is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and vibrant Business Relationship Officer for our Business Banking Unit. The incumbent is responsible for identifying and converting viable traditional and non-traditional companies into customers of the Bank, to grow the Bank’s loan portfolio and revenue base, and to implement specific products and services approved by JN Bank. The incumbent is also responsible for loan structuring and ensuring loans are properly maintained and supervised. The Business Relationship Officer is required to analyse, process requests of clients, and to manage a loan portfolio.
This position will provide an exciting opportunity for innovative business development, operational process management, and agile delinquency management with focus on these key responsibilities:
Business Development
- Scan and analyze the wider economic environment and advise on feasible business opportunities for the bank.
- Expand the Bank’s customer base by way of marketing and selling of products to include loans, deposits and credit cards to new and existing clients.
- Provide information and advice to prospective clients, existing clients and various lending agencies about the policies and procedures of JN Bank with respect to its lending programmes.
- Market products and services through new and existing relationships, networking events and affiliations.
- Achieve all sales targets assigned and ensure monthly growth in assigned loan portfolio.
Structuring
- Assess loan applications and assist in their timely, accurate and efficient preparation for submission to the Credit Underwriting Unit and by extension the approval authorities.
- Analyse and prepare credit submissions within the guidelines of the applicable Credit Policy and Underwriting Manual.
- Conduct risk assessments to support the loan review process.
Operational Process Management
- Ensure that all supporting/legal documentation accompanying loan applications are in good order.
- Ensure that approved credits are processed and administered according to terms and conditions set out in the conditions of approval.
- Review all credit reports and sector studies prepared by the relevant agencies.
- Conduct research and submit recommendations for changes to the portfolio composition as necessary.
- Ensure Credit sales and other Key Responsibility Areas (KRA) outcomes against targets are achieved.
- Ensure policies and procedures related to credit appraisal techniques and monitoring are properly implemented and upheld.
Risk Management
- Assist with the effective management of risks and the implementation of risk reduction strategies within the Bank.
- Ensure delinquency ratio is contained within standards for assigned portfolio.
- Actively monitor delinquent loan accounts, make recommendations for consolidations and execute recovery steps.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or a related field of study
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in banking, trading, treasury or research
- Professional accreditation in finance/investment/credit provides an advantage
