Student Financial Services Officer

SCOPE OF WORK:

The incumbent is required to review payment plan application forms and make recommendations.  Identify lending sources and make recommendations to the supervisor, maintain portfolio, advise students of UCC’s payment options and determine the most appropriate plan based on their qualifications.

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

  • Verify application information on the data system.
  • Make collection calls to delinquent students including the requisite follow-up.
  • Review payments qualifying options and make recommendations to the supervisor.
  • Assist in maintaining the collections on outstanding students’ balances record in an attempt to minimize delinquency.
  • To assist in the development and administering of collection strategies
  • Identify financing sources and advise staff and students of all campuses
  • Assist in the interviewing of students requesting tuition assistant, and to assess need for credit.
  • Maintain application and payment register.
  • Assist in the administration of loan arrangements
  • Maintain the scholarship register.
  • Liaise with accounts receivable and Student Services Coordinators and Officers, to ensure the accuracy of student data.
  • Ensure students on payment plan receive approval from the Unit before the start of their programme.
  • Monitor and supervise pass inspection for all campuses

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The position will require –

Knowledge

  • Of Accounting and Accounting Software
  • Demonstrated knowledge of interest rate calculation
  • Proficient with Microsoft office systems.

Skills and Abilities

  • Possess excellent written, verbal and public presentation skills.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in interpreting policies and procedures,
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, and students in conveying the aims and objectives of the institution.
  • Have the ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple initiatives concurrently.

Requirements

-  A minimum of Two (2) year experience in collections and customer service environment.

-  A minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration or related Accounting studies.
