The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is a specialized agency with the responsibility for the care and protection of children, especially those who are at risk or have been victims of abuse or neglect.

The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is seeking to recruit for the role of Research & Planning Associate, on contract.

The Research & Planning Associate, supports the strategic initiatives of the Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago by conducting research, analyzing data, and developing plans that contribute to evidence-based decision-making and program effectiveness. This role is integral in providing insights that enhance the Authority’s service delivery and policy development for child protection and welfare.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in research and planning roles, preferably in a social services or child welfare setting.

Principal Accountabilities/ Key Functions:

  • Conduct research studies and analysis on issues related to child protection, welfare, and juvenile justice to support evidence-based decision-making.

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data from various sources to produce reports, presentations, and policy briefs for internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Collaborate with internal and external departments to identify research needs, develop research methodologies, and execute research projects.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact and effectiveness of programs and interventions implemented by the Authority.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of strategic plans, policies, and frameworks based on research findings and best practices.
  • Support the Senior Research & Planning Officer in preparing and presenting research findings to senior management, the Board of Management, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of research methodologies, data sources, and findings.
  • Stay informed about current trends, best practices, and innovations in child protection and welfare through continuous learning and professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards and guidelines in conducting research activities.
  • Develops, maintains and updates databases and standard reports.
  • Prepare data for analysis and subsequently prepare tables, graphs and reports from said data.
  • Represents the Authority at various meetings, conferences, consultation and community activities that may require a research and planning input.
  • Perform any other duties as may be required to successfully achieve this job function.
