The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is a specialized agency with the responsibility for the care and protection of children, especially those who are at risk or have been victims of abuse or neglect.

The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is seeking to recruit for the role of Process Server, on contract.

The Process Server will form part of the pooled resources for the department and will be required to deliver and serve legal documents.  He/ she will maintain accurate and complete records relative to time, place, manner of service and locates parties to be served.  The Process Server will deliver legal documents between the Authority and the court, as well as to any other party.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Five (5) CXC passes at the General Proficiency level.
  • Must possess a valid Trinidad and Tobago Driver’s Permit and have access to a reliable vehicle.
  • 3 years’ experience driving a motor/ light goods vehicle.  
  • 2 years’ experience as a legal clerk or process server performing similar duties and familiarity with court proceedings and legal practices.
  • Defensive Driving Certification will be considered an asset.

Principal Accountabilities/ Key Functions:

  • Deliver documents for and on behalf of the Authority to the court, or any party or entity being served within the timeframe specified.
  • Verify the identity of the receiver and take written notes of the delivery information ensuring the receiver signs for receipt
  • Comply with all legal procedures that guide the serving of legal documents.
  • Attend court proceeding as and when necessary.
  • Execute affidavits in support of service.
  • Liaise and work closely with the Legal Services and General Counsel department to ensure that service is properly executed and provide any necessary ancillary support.
  • Prepare reports and maintain delivery records of persons served.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
