Facilities Technician

JOB TITLE: Facilities Technician

Reports to: Facilities Manager
Accountable to: General Manager

The incumbent will be responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance functions in relations to the care and upkeep or the St. Augustine Private Hospital.
JOB SUMMARY

Conduct inspections of facilities and equipment to ensure optimal functioning. Perform basic maintenance and repair work as needed. Maintain work schedules for preventive maintenance of facilities and building systems.
Manage and maintain records related to all purchases, equipment installations, and other relevant documentation. Assist with the development and management of the facility management database. Assist in the preparation of specifications for the purchase of equipment and estimates for contracted services.
Assist with identifying health and safety hazards, and help implement and ensure compliance with applicable usage policies and standards.
Monitor contractors and vendors performing contracted services. Liaise with external service providers to ensure that all work is completed to satisfaction and within budget.
Provide support for senior officers with space planning, furniture and equipment acquisition, layout, and other interior design issues.
Establish and maintain effective communication with individuals and groups regarding complex matters. Allocate, coordinate, monitor, and assess the work of teams including Attendants, Car Park attendants, Ambulance Drivers, and Maintenance staff. Work closely with the Facilities Manager to oversee daily business operations and enforce company policies and procedures.
Assist with administrative functions including creating rosters, preparing workflows, managing purchase requests, compiling and distributing reports to relevant department heads as requested, generating staff overtime, and assessing punctuality records, to name a few. Attend to correspondence and emails from customers, clients, and contractors.
 
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Capability to perform physical tasks including climbing ladders, bending, and reaching.
Availability for on-call emergency situations as needed.
Preferred Education/ qualifications:          
Five (5) CXC inclusive of Mathematics & English
Certificate in Facilities Management, Project Management, or
Technician’s Diploma in Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience performing facilities/equipment maintenance and repair work
