Assistant Underwriter,COLFIRE

The assistant underwriter will be required to provide excellent customer service, sell COLFIRE’s Products and Services and underwrite quality business.

Job Summary:

• The assistant underwriter will be required to provide excellent customer service, sell COLFIRE’s Products and Services and underwrite quality business. He / She will be responsible for developing business relationships with customers and producers. The incumbent will be required to professionally and effectively represent COLFIRE in the marketplace, recognize trends and make recommendations on strategies and products.

Job Description:

• Undertake assessments of Motor, Property and Liability risks and provide quotations for these lines of business.
• Review applications for Insurance to determine acceptance of risks.
• Process new, renewal and endorsement transactions and ensure all required documents are uploaded to the Insurance Application.
• Respond to enquiries from internal and external customers, Agents, and Brokers.
• Set/Clear Vehicle Certificate & Printing Schedule Restrictions Bypass on 4D.
• Perform vehicle inspections and conduct surveys for Insurance purposes.
• Review and update policies earmarked for renewal.
• Receive funds, process receipts for internal and external customers, safeguard and account for payments collected.
• Log onto ZOPIM 5 and CISCO minutes before the start of the workday and ensure that all chats are responded to daily.
• Process refund transactions and assign registries to Finance to prepare payments.
• Conduct assigned telemarketing for customers, Agents, Sales Representatives within agreed timelines to support and improve customer retention.
• Attend and contribute by generating and sharing ideas at Team and other general meetings.
• Work closely with Team members to achieve the Company’s Strategic Objectives.
• As authorised by Manager, examine, and authorize all policy transactions e.g. refund, new, endorsements, letters, not processed by you.
• Assist with training and development of Underwriting staff.
• Provide and analyse market information and activities, identify trends, and make recommendations to develop strategies and products.
• Perform any other duties and activities as they relate to the operations of the Company.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• 2 A Levels or pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree.
• TTII State License/CII Certificate or other equivalent general insurance qualification will be considered an asset.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Junior Underwriter or similar position in the industry.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
• Good problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Able to meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
