Social Protection Specialist

The Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) is seeking to identify a suitably qualified candidate to fill the position of Social Protection Specialist in its Social Policy, Planning and Research Division, on a fixed termed contractual basis.

 

Pay Scale: Level 8; salary starting at $5,198,035p.a.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Facilitate the development, monitoring and evaluation of national policies, strategies, programmes and projects in social protection;
  2. Provide strategic and informed advice, data and information to inform the development of national and sectoral policies, projects and programmes intended to improve the welfare of vulnerable groups while protecting their rights.
  3. Contribute to national and sectoral projects/programmes development, coordination, monitoring and evaluation.
  4. Undertake/support research activities to influence decision- making and to provide complete, accurate, timely data to government and non-government stakeholders.
  5. Provide technical input and policy advice to social policy development particularly for Children, Persons with Disabilities, and Senior Citizens.
  6. Provide input to pertinent publications and other technical documents from the PIOJ.
  7. Represent the GOJ/PIOJ at National, Regional and International Events on Social Protection, Children and related issues.

 

Qualification and Experience

Master’s degree in the Social Sciences or Development Studies with at least 5 years’ experience in related work in a policy driven environment, expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methodology would be an asset.
