Development Analyst

Background

The SDGs Secretariat in its coordinating role fosters institutional coordination and coherence, inclusive participation, monitoring and reporting, public awareness/advocacy, risk assessment and adaptability. It works closely with the Divisions of the PIOJ and the Plan Development Unit - Secretariat of Vision 2030 Jamaica, National Development Plan. The Secretariat is responsible for all aspects of coordination of the monitoring, evaluation and reporting processes for the SDGs in Jamaica.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Engage with stakeholders at all levels to advance the implementation strategies, and monitoring and evaluation objectives for the SDGs.
  • Liaise with relevant internal stakeholders to determine and provide input to the processes of prioritization, coordination, and reporting on key strategic issues related to the SDGs implementation and coordination processes.
  • Facilitate synchronization of initiatives from relevant stakeholders with the overall work programme of the SDGs in alignment with Vision 2030 Jamaica – National Development Plan.
  • Provide technical input to the revision, development, implementation and monitoring of the SDGs Roadmap and implementation efforts.
  • Participate in the preparation of reports, presentations, studies, and other documents relevant to the coordination of SDGs implementation and monitoring processes.
  • Participate in the formulation and execution of public awareness strategies and interventions for the SDGs.

 

Qualification/ Experience/ Attributes/Skills

  • Post graduate degree in Social Sciences (Development Studies, Economic Development Policy, Social Policy)
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the public sector, including the development/ implementation and monitoring of multi-sectoral programmes
  • Competence in the use of relevant data processing software including Microsoft Office and SPSS or other statistical software packages would be an asset
  • Training in research methods/statistics, monitoring and evaluation would be a distinct asset
