Senior HR Officer - People, Culture and Talent Management (PACT) 

Overview:

The Senior HR Officer will report to the AVP, Head of People, Culture and Talent Management. This role is responsible for assisting in the development, embedding and deepening of the Sygnus difference & culture within the organisation.

This role is also responsible for assisting in the execution of strategies geared towards strengthening Talent Acquisition and Development, People Engagement, Training, relevant Policies, and HR Administration. Additionally, this role is responsible for fostering strong relationships with executives, service providers and regulatory agencies. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and execution of the Sygnus People and Talent Management strategy across all locations. 
  • Supports the development and maintenance of the Sygnus culture and relevant policies.
  • Manage Talent Acquisition to adequately meet the organization's immediate and long-term strategic business requirements. 
  • Lead the organisation’s reward and recognition programs and other Team engagement strategies. 
  • Ensure compliance with local Labour Laws company's Code of Conduct and HR Policy. 
  • Manage and administer training and development programs to support in building a high-performance team. 
  • Manage the performance management system, including performance appraisals, individual development plans (IDPs), and performance improvement plans (PIPs)
  • Administer employee benefits and welfare/wellness programs. 
  • Execute and manage employee engagement activities.  
  • Provide support in the creation and ongoing updating of job descriptions for employees. 
  • Provide guidance to employees regarding interpretation of HR policies and procedures. 
  • Keep abreast of new developments/approaches in the human resource discipline, labour laws/policies, occupational health and safety standards etc. to continually recommend improvements in the efficiency of the department and services performed and ensure compliance with employment laws. 
  • Collaborate with the PACT team to develop a comprehensive training plan for the company. 
  • Identifying training and development opportunities that are consistent with individual career objectives and the Group’s business needs. 
  • Contributes to the overall success of Sygnus by performing other duties and  responsibilities as assigned by the Executives of the Company and/or the Board of  Directors.

Relevant Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related field.
  • Professional HR certification - SHRM, SPHRi (preferred but not required).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in progressively responsible HR roles.
  • Supervisory and leadership training/certification would be an asset. 
  • In-depth knowledge of Jamaican Labor Laws and HR best practices.
  • Proven ability to analyze, interpret, and explain employment regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and coaching skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills with excellent conflict management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR management software.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Owning or having full access to a reliable motor vehicle would be an asset.
