Senior Civil Project Engineer

This position is responsible for the development of project management and execution of capital projects that supports safety, productivity, and profitability of Champion Industrial Equipment & Supplies Limited.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the development of project management and execution of capital projects that supports safety, productivity, and profitability of Champion Industrial Equipment & Supplies Limited.

Job Responsibilities

• Compile project business cases and implement projects from concept to execution phase based upon customer input.
• Derive technical details of projects based upon customer input, prepare cost estimates, compile detailed scopes of work and clearly defined objectives according to industry standards for projects.
• Compile and prepare project cost forecasts, budget control of assigned projects and ensure compliance with internal procurement procedures.
• Manage internal resources and external consultants/contractor on a day-to-day basis for project execution and implementation phases.
• Ensure that projects are completed safe, on time and on budget.
• Ability to adapt existing technology in novel ways to solve problems and to complete projects.
• Writes periodic reports and/or oral presentations to management and customers on specific projects.
• Applies internal and external quality standards to projects to ensure compliance with industry certifications and standards.
• Interface with customers to evaluate project ideas, projects and Targets.
• Support yearly/bi-yearly Plant turn-around projects/ activities in all phases of project execution and documentation.
• Review project documents, specifications and drawing for correctness, accuracy, and completion.

EDUCATION/SPECIALIZED TECHNIQUES

• Ability to function in a self-directed work environment
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Project Engineer/Manager functioning in a project management role within a Construction environment.
• Engineering degree, BSc in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Good communication, inter-personal and presentation skills
• Motivated self-starter, hands on approach, detail oriented and results driven

PREFERRED SKILLS:

• Degree or certification in Project Management principles and techniques
• Ability to highly communicate with a diverse set of backgrounds and job functions
• Ability to execute engineering judgment as it pertains to multiple disciplines as required by project scopes
• Competent in project management
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve technical problems
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects of medium to major importance in cost and complexity in an effective manner
• Demonstrated use of applying novel solutions to solve problems and complete projects
• Demonstrated ability to supervise external contractor and engineering designers in a team environment
• Knowledgeable of applications of various quality principles and has applied to projects
• Proficient in a wide variety of software programs including AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and MS Projects management scheduling tools
• Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting and coordinating the technical and management aspects of projects.
• Requires extensive regular contact with assigned projects clients.
• Assist in the preparation of engineering project proposals and tenders.
• Participating in Client/contractor meetings and resolving Client/engineering and management project issues.
• Review and approve Client invoices.
