The Opportunity- Seamstress

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, skilled and highly motivated individual join our Housekeeping Team.  The Seamstress will work as part of the Housekeeping team at the Crane to construct and perform alterations on linen in guest rooms or any other linen, employee uniforms or guest clothing as requested.

Applications open to Barbadian nationals, persons with permission to reside and work in Barbados, or persons eligible to reside and work with a CARICOM Skills certificate.

Summary of Main Duties:

• Operate sewing/industrial machine
• Construct chair and cushion covers, and other articles as requested, according to specifications. 
• Keep accurate records of all required materials and equipment and report all shortages to the Laundry Manager/Housekeeping Manager. 
• Requisition linen supplies from Housekeeping, ensuring ample stocks are maintained. 

The ideal candidate will possess:

• At least one-year experience in a similar role.
• Extensive knowledge of sewing repair work and sewing machine mechanics. 
• Ability to sit/stand for long periods of time, enduring various physical movements including stretching, pushing and bending.
• Flexibility to work on weekends, holidays, and evenings as scheduled.
