RELIEF SOCIAL WORKER (1yr)

Responsible for working with students, families and teachers to solve problems related to student achievement and mental health while working within a framework of relevant legislations and procedures applicable to the laws of Trinidad & Tobago.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and group counseling to students and their families.
• Provide accurate and consistent diagnosis of problems identified.
• Develop treatment plans for students and their families and engage them to take an active role in their own treatment.
• Provide continuous follow-up service to students and their families who have been counseled and/or treated.
• Must be familiar with Social Service Agencies within the country so that students and their families can be connected and/or referred to the appropriate services.
• Consult with reputable doctors, therapists and medical professionals who can assist with any social or psychological challenges that may exist.
• Make home visits and must be able to work with people from all ethnic and economic backgrounds.
• Lead and/or participate on Committees, such as those established to draft school improvement plans, intervention programs and other programmatic changes.
• Maintain proper and accurate clinical records on case management services.
• Act as liaison between school, families and community agencies.

Qualification/Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related discipline
• At least 3-5 years proven experience in Social Work in an educational environment
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent analytical ability, reasoning and logic skills
• Must be highly confidential
• Computer Literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge with high school students will be an asset
