Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Application Support & Development team in the capacity of:

 


Release Analyst

 

Coordinate with developers, testers, project managers and other individual contributors as required to plan, implement, monitor, improve, and document releases and ensure adherence to standard procedures.

Administer, customize, and execute tools and scripts used in the release management process.

 

Location: Kingston

 

 

As A Release Analyst, you will:

 

  • Design and document release policies, processes, standards, and procedures from build, through test and defect fixing, to the release of new or changed software in to Live with the guidance of the Release Manager.
  • Help delivery teams develop release plans and overall strategy for deploying code using best practices.
  • Perform impact assessment and technology selection decisions related to build and release plan and strategy for the whole release.
  • Understand the build process and identify bottleneck areas for improvement.
  • Monitor the processes during the entire lifecycle for its adherence and update or create new processes for improvement and minimizing waste.
  • Ensure all required documentation and release artifacts are created and stored (or referenced) in an auditable manner, within the CMDB.
  • Participate in Run Book planning and coordinate releases and to ensure that the integrity of the live environment is protected and the correct components are released.
  • Proactively identify and remove project obstacles or barriers on behalf of the team.
  • Execute Release Management maturity assessment with implementation teams.
  • Administer tools involved in planning, tracking and deployment of releases.
  • Create scripts or tooling to support automation of release processes and workflows.
  • Monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of the Release management process across the organization and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintain quality checks on releases and record those that directly or indirectly cause support incidents.
  • Monitor and measure KPIs and other metrics.
  • Periodically report on progress to management.
  • Research and implement new methods and practices that increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Innovate and integrate new processes and/or technology to significantly add value.
  • Perform other related duties assigned from time to time. 

 

What do you need?

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Two (2) years’ experience as Release Analyst, Release Engineer, IT Change Analyst, Quality Assurance Analyst, Software Engineer, System Administrator, or similar role.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes with focus on change and release management.
  • Good understanding of application infrastructure, system architecture, and operating systems. 
  • Familiarity with command line scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
  • Familiarity with Linux or Unix based OS Systems and Linux Commands.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and Continuous Delivery (CD/CI) pipelines (such as Azure DevOps, GitLab and Bitbucket Pipelines).
  • Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure code tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional work teams toward task completion.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
