Production and Operations Supervisor

Production / Operations Supervisor 

Position Summary: Maximize shift production output and efficiencies to meet production targets and customer requirements while promoting a safe and healthy working environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor plant efficiencies to ensure output targets are achieved.
  2. Oversee all plant operations after 4:00 p.m., on weekends, and public holidays, including Logistics, Batch, Furnace, Operations, Warehouse, Contracted Labour, Plant Security, Stores, and Engineering.
  3. Manage Hot End and Cold End activities.
  4. Minimize machine downtime and production loss by troubleshooting issues using Root Cause Analysis.
  5. Conduct routine audits.
  6. Systematically correct bottle faults.
  7. Interpret statistical analysis.
  8. Participate in work planning, staffing, and the development and review of operating systems and procedures.
  9. Develop, implement, and perform duties in accordance with ISO 9001 standards and the CGL Quality Manual.
  10. Ensure subordinates adhere to the Company’s/Department’s safety policies and procedures to minimize injury risks.
  11. Conduct annual performance appraisals for subordinates and follow up to develop employee capabilities and maximize department efficiency.
  12. Plan and participate in training and development activities for subordinates.
  13. Prepare accurate reports relevant to operations and related matters.
  14. Ensure a safe working environment to minimize injury risks.
  15. Assist in preparing budgets for monitoring and control.
  16. Liaise with authorities in other departments.
  17. Comply with the Company’s/Department’s procedures and policies related to the Quality Management System and the Health, Safety & Environmental Management System.
  18. Fulfill the legal duties of the Occupational Safety & Health Act 2004 as an employee.


Training and Experience:

  • B.Eng in Engineering or a suitable equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a senior supervisory position.
  • Understanding of Statistical Process Control.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Effective communication skills at all levels.
  • Experience in glass manufacturing is an asset.
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience.
