Shipping and Procurement Coordinator

We are actively recruiting a highly organized and dedicated individual to fulfill the role of Procurement and Shipping Coordinator. Experience in import and export of numerous SKUs is essential.  Being an SME the Coordinator works in close communication with all senior team leads and must be able to produce regular reports and prepared to negotiate with business partners and meet tight deadlines.   Serious minded applicants will have a proven track record of performance and commitment.

Job Location   Woodbrook, Port-of-Spain    Hours of Work Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm and one Saturday per month 9am-1pm.  This job requires the employee to work late when necessary.

Work Environment    Fast–paced, deadline-driven, requires being highly organized with multi-tasking skills. Must have emotional intelligence and a positive attitude towards finding solutions for challenging situations that will occur in the industry.

Key Duties

  • Analyze Sales trends, produce procurement schedules and purchase orders accordingly.
  • Research new products to a level of understanding key parameters.
  • Administer the clearance system for inbound orders reducing impact of costs to operations.
  • Ensure that all documentation relating to import transactions are received and conform to import requirements and Customs Laws.
  • Verify HS Tariff Classifications, CIF computations and Customs rates of duty.
  • Prepare and expedite payment requests for all charges related to import clearance.
  • Coordinate and oversee the import, consolidation and delivery of orders
  • Apply for import permits / licenses and attend to and resolve queries from various Government Agencies.
  • Collaborate with Customs Brokers on clearance progress and resolve routine Customs and Shipping issues.
  • Negotiate competitive freight rates and advise on optimum shipping options.

 Key Qualifications , Knowledge & Experience:

  • Tertiary education
  • 3 CAPEs or equivalent - Minimum grade 3/C
  • 5 CSECs including Mathematics, English and one Science subject  Minimum grade 3/C
  • A minimum of five (5) years experience in a shipping/customs environment  
  • Be familiar with ASYCUDA, customs and port procedures   
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including pivots

 Key Competencies

  • Must be meticulous and attentive to detail with excellent organizational, analytical, communication and time management skills  
  • Must be able to exercise sound judgment and initiative and communicate well
  • Must be able to multi-task and work under minimum supervision in a demanding environment
