The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is a specialized agency with the responsibility for the care and protection of children, especially those who are at risk or have been victims of abuse or neglect.

The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is seeking to recruit for an Employee Relations Officer, on contract.

The Employee Relations Officer provides support to the Lead, Employee Relations by researching, analysing and completing day-to-day activities of the Employee Relations/ Industrial Relations function such as leave of absence, employee grievances, incident investigation, employee surveys and other employee/industrial relations activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or equivalent qualification.
  • Diploma in Industrial Relations
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in HR, IR or related field.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in Industrial Relations will be considered an asset.

Principal Accountabilities/ Key Functions:

  • Coordinate the day-to-day administration of the Authority’s Employee Relations and Industrial Relations activities and assist with implementation of changes to ER/IR policies and procedures.

  • Assist with education and awareness efforts and answering questions regarding Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Investigate and fairly resolve employee complaints and grievances, in an effort to resolve conflict in the workplace.
  • Provides advice and counsel regarding leave administration and compliance with the Labour legislations.
  • Handle all facets of employee relations, including investigations and resolutions to employment disputes. Provides guidance regarding and/or create and maintain accurate documentation of investigations or other employment or labor matters.
  • Act as an objective and confidential intermediary for employees and supervisors. Participate in conflict resolution, mediation facilitation, problem solving, and negotiation with/between Team Leads, Managers and employees.
  • Provide resolution services to management through identification of appropriate company policy and procedures
  • Supports the Lead – Employee Relations with various projects.
  • Assist in the coordination of engagement activities and events.
  • Collate results from Employee Surveys.
  • Remain current on employment law and trends.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
