Portfolio Manager- Proprietary

The Portfolio Manager is responsible for executing investment strategies, maintaining regulatory compliance, tracking investments and collaborating with other departments.

FUNCTIONAL ASSIGNMENTS:

1. Portfolio Strategy & Execution:
   1. Assist in the development and execution of portfolio strategies for institutional portfolios and mutual funds, ensuring alignment with each portfolio’s objectives and goals.
   1. Monitor portfolio performance daily, ensuring trades are conducted in line with AWML policies, as well as the Investment Policies of each portfolio.

• Collaboration & Research:
  • Review all approved research reports and collaborate with the Investment Services, Research, and Wealth Management teams to make well-informed decisions on portfolio management.
  • Work closely with Analysts to select investments that align with the goals and strategies of the portfolios under management.

• Market Awareness:
  • Stay abreast of all market events and trends, both at the micro and macro levels, that impact the portfolios under management.
  • Ensure portfolio strategies are adjusted as necessary based on changing market conditions or external factors.

• Client Interaction & Reporting:
  • Prepare and deliver performance presentations to institutional clients, ensuring clear communication of portfolio performance, risks, and opportunities.
  • Prepare sample portfolios for prospective clients upon request to support business development efforts.

• Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:
  • Ensure portfolios remain compliant with the Trinidad and Tobago Insurance Act of 2018, as well as all other relevant regulations.
  • Ensure that all portfolio transactions and strategies comply with internal policies and regulatory standards.

• Reporting & Documentation:
  • Prepare and/or review quarterly reports for submission to Trustees as required, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Prepare materials related to portfolio performance or strategy as needed for the Investment Committee.

GENERAL DUTIES:

• Execute investment strategies across all managed portfolios, ensuring timely and efficient execution of trades.
• Maintain regulatory compliance, ensuring adherence to the Trinidad and Tobago Insurance Act of 2018 and other relevant legal frameworks.
• Track investment performance, ensuring portfolios meet objectives and outperform relevant benchmarks.
• Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Research and Wealth Management) to optimize portfolio decision-making and strategies.

EDUCATION

• BSc Degree in Finance/Economics or professional qualification in Accounting.
• An MBA in Finance preferred but not required.
• Pursuance of the CFA designation would be an asset.
