JOB SUMMARY

The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of their M pharmacy store, consistent with all legal and regulatory requirements and in accordance with overall Company policies, procedures and standards. He/she must maintain a contributory and cooperative relationship with the SuperPharm stores, the Central Support Unit, the Warehouse and Suppliers. He/She must develop and maintain staff of the highest calibre and integrity. The incumbent is required to build strong customer relations with external and internal customers and build external base. The manager will motivate staff and the team to improve its capability to deliver exceptional pharmaceutical care and customer service and achieve financial targets, while trading safely and legally.

JOB DUTIES

  • Leads and supervises the operations of the retail store and staff, opening/closing/rosters/changing shifts and task delegation of staff.
  • Implements and manages the Company’s policies and procedures in respect of cash management, store security and inventory shrink/damages/expiries control.
  • Manages and supervises the inventory process including receiving, stocking, pricing, returning and transferring of merchandise.
  • Leads and participates in Store’s quarterly stock counts, investigating variances and ensuring areas of improvement are addressed successfully.
  • Manages the flow of inventory to ensure product availability and inventory management standards including proper housekeeping of all inventory and inventory related areas.
  • Performs and supervises merchandising by planning and ensuring the implementation, sets, resets and revisions.
  • Facilitates the execution of all stores specific promotional and marketing programs as directed.
  • Manages and analyses financial and performance data for the retail store and maintain budget controls.
  • Build, adapt and follow-through on an effective business plan that achieves and exceeds quarterly sales targets.
  • Leads and supports the team towards the achievement of monthly, quarterly and annual sales, and profitability and other financial and non-financial targets.
  • Revaluates and adapts with changing market conditions.
  • Prioritizes and stays focused on end goals to maximize productivity efforts.
  • Uses a wide variety of communication methods, selling skills and promotional tools to appropriately influence and impact results.
  • Uses all analytical resources and tools available to identify opportunities and challenges and build plan of action.
  • Continuously looks for and recommends to Senior Management more efficient ways of managing store operations, improvements in assortment and improvements in creating and maintaining consistently the highest standards of customer service.
  • Responsible and accountable for all customer relations. Listens, communicates and shares information to develop trust that ultimately results in customer commitment.
  • Uses all available information to understand customers’ needs and to identify opportunities.
  • Resolves customer complaints and helps respond to customers’ special needs.
  • Monitors and analyses the customer service provided by staff and offers feedback, coaching and training.
  • Shares customer service best practices with all staff to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and recommends and implements these changes for operational and customer service improvement.
  • Recruits and hires for the retail store. Implements 30-day training plan and monitors performance continuously.
  • Conducts mid-year and annual performance appraisals and creates, implements and monitors performance improvement plans for all employees.
  • Motivates, trains, coaches, counsels, mentors and disciplines staff consistent with Company standards and policies.
  • Hosts various staff meetings regularly and as required, e.g. pre-shift meetings and general staff meetings.
  • Assumes staff related duties when on shift in the capacity of a pharmacist to dispense, counsel, recommend medicine in accordance with the legal requirements of Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Keep  current with new pharmacy trends, drug updates and practices.
  • Prepares and/or oversees the preparation and dispensing of prescription medications to patients and/or medical practitioners. 
  • Makes decisions regarding generic substitution of prescribed pharmaceuticals as appropriate.
  • Counsels’ patients and/or medical practitioners on drug indications/contraindications, dosage, drug interactions and side effects, and provides other drug and pharmaceutical information as appropriate. 
  • Oversees the acquisition and disbursement of drugs and medications to various offices, clinics and other sites. 
  • Provides guidance and training to team members, including but not limited to pharmacy interns and pharmacy technicians, and monitors their performance.  
  • Assists with the management of the pharmacy team including but not limited to, overseeing daily duties; distribution of work tasks and responsibilities; rostering; and disciplinary action.  
  • Establishes and maintains methods and manner of storage and recordkeeping systems to provide for safekeeping of pharmaceuticals.
  • Takes patient histories as required; makes initial clinical assessments and refers patients to appropriate clinicians as required. 
  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental and/or infection control standards. 
  • Maintains a friendly disposition and provides delightful customer service daily. 
  • Greets customers within eight (8) feet as per Customer Service Standards. 
  • Ensures that products are merchandized as per SPL Standards, including assisting with the merchandising (including shelf tags, price tags) stacking and displaying items for sale.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned to assist in meeting the Company’s objectives.

WORKING HOURS

The position requires shift work including weekends and public holidays. Due to the nature of the job, the Employee may be required to work for other periods and hours as the Company shall determine. The Company shall give the Employee reasonable notice where the Employee is expected to work beyond his/her usual working hours.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy
  • Registered with the Pharmacy Board of Trinidad & Tobago. 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • 5-7 years’ experience in the retail pharmacy industry with a proven track record of accomplishments. 

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Experience in the retail industry will be an asset.
  • Ability to continuously move around on a daily basis, as well as the ability to lift a minimum of 20lbs.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and public holidays.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate the team to ensure a high level of quality control.
