POINT OF SALE RECEPTIONIST/CASHIER

The Point-of-Sale Receptionist reports to directly to the Manager-CPJ Markets and is responsible for processing the sale of merchandise in the CPJ Retail Store. The incumbent is also responsible for the managing and tracking inventory.

 Duties and responsibilities may include:

1. Collect cash, checks, and credit card payments from customers
2. Effectively operates a cash register to compute and record total daily sales.
3. Make change accurately and efficiently
4. Maintain cash control over register drawer and verify amounts are correct
5. Inspects merchandise prior to packaging to see that it is in satisfactory condition and verifies items with invoiced quantity for all purchases.
6. Consistently reviews price sheets to note price changes and sale items.
7. Verifies all transfers are posted daily to the system.
8. Ensures the processing of goods returned and subsequent credits.
9. Checks and ensures that the lights are switched off.
10. Participates in all inventory counts.
11. Effectively completes all other activities as delegated by the supervising authorities including managing shelves and tracking inventory.

• Should possess good written and verbal communication skills.
• Well organised and methodical approach to work and the work environment.
• Ability to work flexible hours as the needs of the service dictate, including out of normal hours as required.
• Ability to work within Company Policies.
• An understanding of the principles of good customer service.
• Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety Regulation.
• Strong counting and calculation skills are required.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills are required.
• Should have at least 1 year experience in the field.
• Must be comfortable with working in a retail environment, and understands basic business processes and procedures
• Valid Food Handlers Permit.
