JOB SUMMARY

Coordinate the daily operations of the plant and off-site warehouses by working with team members to supply all raw and packaging materials to the lines, moving and securing raw material and finished goods while ensuring compliance with defined employee safety and food safety standards. 

JOB DUTIES

  • Helps to ensure a safe work environment throughout the plant and by extension the community by:
  1. Driving implementation of all HSE policies and procedures
  2. Coaching team members to follow all QHES policies and procedures.
  3. Investigating all safety, sanitary or fire hazards where possible taking corrective action as per HSE management systems, alternately reporting to the appropriate department and following up to ensure timely rectification.
  4. Making suggestions for improving health, safety and environmental management practices.
  5. Contributing to the preservation of a sustainable environment where materials are segregated and reused, recycled or repurposed.
  6. Supports with driving a culture of sustainability.
  • Collaborates with Operational Integrity team to record and verify the materials movement of all segregated materials that are identified for recycling by-product sale and/or re-use/repurposing.
  • Participates in conducting incident investigations including performance root cause analysis of accidents, dangerous occurrences and near misses.
  • Coordinate and participate in all regulatory testing and field evaluations for occupation health safety and sustainability.
  • Ensures employees adhere to HSE requirements by facilitating HSE inspections and participating in Safety Committee meeting, Toolbox meetings and Operational reviews.
  • Drives adherence to all GMPs and food safety policies and procedures.
  • Drives the maintenance of continuous audit-readiness by performing work in keeping with the Food Safety and Quality Management System, regulatory,  certification, and customer requirements.
  • Ensures all products and ingredients meet the established quality and food safety standards by ensuring compliance with all relevant industry and other regulatory guidelines established for food manufacturing by:
    • Communicating any potential product issues immediately to the Operational Integrity team to permit timely decision-making, thereby minimizing losses and preventing consumer safety incidents.
    •  Recording all damaged items and submit relevant reports
    • Conducting daily inspection and check product to identify any signs of pest infestation or damaged product.
    • Verifying compliance with food safety and quality systems are sustained  on an ongoing basis at the factory warehouse locations and off-site warehouses.
    •  Reviewing and reporting on housekeeping issues within the warehouses and lab areas.
  • Ensures the team performs quality control inspections in accordance with defined inspection plans.
  • Checks that all storage areas are well maintained, and all pest control protocols are enforced.
  • Checks that all cleaning and sanitization procedures are completed including but not limited to:
    • Cleaning and sanitizing of work areas and equipment before and after use.
    • Securing, recording and disposing of material waste and by-products throughout the shifts.
  • Contributes to the implementation of day - to - day production plans to ensure finished goods case output meet the quantity, cost, and quality standards.
  • Supports efficient management of materials by:
    • Ensuring all material pallet tags are affixed.
    • Inspecting, sampling and testing of materials that are stored at offsite locations
    • Maintaining accurate inventory logs at all storage site locations
    • Transferring materials between sites to meet the demands of established schedules
  • Active participation in the disassembly and assembly of the flour room equipment, as required for:
    • Fumigation
    • Stock checks
    • Cleaning
    • Shutdowns
  • Ensures the timely movement of raw, packaging materials and finished goods:
    • Verifying documentation for accuracy and completeness upon receipt and departure of containers
    • Validating the replenishment and restocking of goods/product is consistent with container receipts
    • Assisting with dispatching of products as necessary
    • Identifying shortages from delivery upon receipt of product.
  • Supports in the design of warehouse layout to ensure efficient space utilization while adhering to all warehousing handling legislation and QHSE and security policies.
  • Executes in collaboration with the Inventory Analysts all the weekly cycle counts, quarterly stock counts and inventory reconciliations.
  • Performs basic and routine maintenance checks on equipment and tools used in the delivery or loading processes and escalates any defects in a timely manner.
  • Uses hosts, forklift attachments and ramps, forklift charging unit, hand jacks and scissors lifts to carry out duties.
  • Proactively communicating any possible risks that may lead to the inability to meet demand fulfilment, such as:
  1. Low stock levels
  2. Damaged stock
  3. Infested stock
  4. Out of stock items
  5. Delayed delivery
  6. Disciplined execution and timely collection of all by-products and recyclable materials.
  • Operates and maintains equipment with the mindset of waste minimization and cost control.
  • Optimises all inventory storage and movement processes.
  • Disciplined adherence to all inventory controls to minimize stock variances.
  • Diligent protection of stored products.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  •     An associate degree or certificate in business management, Logistics, or supply chain management
  •     Five (5) years’ experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  •     Experience in activities related to inventory management and/or operating machinery.
  •     Two (2) years in a supervisory role.
  •     Experience in using laboratory equipment would be an asset.
  •     Forklift certification.
  •     Familiarity with inventory software and Microsoft suite.
  •     Ability to lift and carry up to the gender specific recommended amount.
  •     Periodically required to perform some duties in warm environment, at heights and confined spaces.
  •     Comfortable squatting, twisting, bending, and kneeling while performing tasks.

  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

 

HOURS OF WORK

As per 24/7 continuous or 24/5 non-continuous shift schedule which includes routine work on weekends, Public Holidays, as well as being available for call out as per the operational needs.
