Junior Automation Engineer

Reporting to the Assistant Manager – Electrical and Automation, the Junior Automation Engineer provides technical support and directly participates in production improvement projects.

The Junior Automation Engineer will assist in the implementation of projects geared towards waste reduction, automation and manufacturing efficiency at National Flour Mills. The successful person will assist in identifying opportunities for increased efficiency, design, coordinate change, programming and testing of automated machinery in all areas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides technical support to the operations of National Flour Mills Limited and participates in automation improvement projects.
• Implements new or modify existing systems to improve the accuracy and timeliness of plant and process information.
• Applies a combination of technical controls, toward improving safety, quality and productivity.
• Determines best solution for problem resolution through critical thinking, data analysis and engineering principles.
• Contributes value added research and analysis to industrial machines and controls.
• Assists in identifying sources of faults, troubleshooting, and providing suggestions of solutions and action plans to minimise recurrences and reduce disruption to production lines.
• Develops industrial control system hardware requirements capable of controlling manufacturing equipment.
• Develops Bill of Materials and Scope of works for Automation Projects.
• Develops software for PLC, HMI, PC, Database systems used in various manufacturing processes.
• Performs other related duties as may be required by the job function.

 REQUIREMENTS:

• A First Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, desirable.
• Ability to read and understand schematic plans, blueprints, and technical drawings.
• Ability to identify causes of operating errors and determine corrective action.
• Strong will to learn new skills and leverage new technologies geared toward efficiency and/or improvements.
• Good analytical, observation and processing skills; keen attention to detail.
• Ability to think critically and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
