Head of News

The Head, TV6 News is responsible for the content, direction and production of news, sports and current affairs programming and other newsroom productions for broadcast ensuring optimum quality and output standards.

• Responsible for content, direction and timely production of news, sports, special reports, current affairs features/programmes and other news products which enhance the station’s status as market leader.
• Ensures that the content for all news products is accurate, credible, free from libel, interesting, fair and tasteful.
• Provides strong leadership and direction to support staff to ensure that the Department’s philosophy, mission, strategic plans, annual goals and objectives are achieved.
• Ensures the technical news production is of a professional news broadcast quality.
• Continuously improves the news products so as to ensure increasing viewership.
• Develops on-air talent to engage viewers and contributes towards an enterprising team for the Newsroom which will be highly motivated and creative.
• Manages budgeted expenditure inclusive of but not limited to capital equipment, human resources and overtime.
• Manages the development and training of staff by providing support, direction and feedback.
• Manages the creation and supply of news content to digital media platforms.
• Performs any other duties which are incidental or consequential to the above, as may be assigned by the Head of Department or representative.
