Our client in the Bank and Finance Sector is seeking to onboard a Financial Accountant for their Port of Spain office for a contract role.


Job Summary:

Assists in managing and executing all aspects of financial accounting and reporting, regulatory reporting and record keeping of the Finance Department.  

Job Requirements:

    1. Provide prompt and quality Customer Service by projecting and demonstrating a high level of professionalism, courtesy and initiative in accordance with established guidelines and policies.
    2. Preparation of monthly reports for the Board ensuring that all transactions are accurately accounted for, and all accounts are reconciled in a timely manner.
    3. Preparation of reports for the stable meeting on a monthly basis.
    4. Prepares flash input by ME-6 as well as Talentia monthly upload by WD5 for the reporting entity 
    5. intercompany upload on Talentia monthly on the WD3 and WD6 for the reporting entity
    6. Reports on actual expenses incurred compared to budget, providing explanations for variances; produces similar analyses for income items and balance sheet movements.
    7. Assist with the Talentia consolidation and supplemental workbook fon a quarterly basis.
    8. Maintenance and reconciliation of fixed assets, intangibles, right of use assets register and calculates monthly depreciation charge by category.
    9. Preparation of Statutory Reports ; CBTT quarterly returns, audit committee and annual Insurance Act Accounts.
    10. Preparation of Audit schedules and Financial Statements for planning, interim and final stages each year for external audit.
    11. Assist department in the creation and development of financial models to improve efficiency.
    12. Assist with the updating the Stat pack on a quarterly basis.
    13. Assist the Finance Manager with the annual budget preparation.
    14. Reconciliation of IT reports received to the general ledger for premium income and claims.
    15. Preparation of journals monthly.
    16. Where necessary, check cash and perform regular checks of the cash and petty cash floats.
    17. Conducts any other tasks or projects as requested by the Finance Manager and Chief Financial Officer.

 EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

  • ACCA qualified, or any related field
TRAINING
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements
  • Intermediate/advanced level experience in MS Excel
  • Working knowledge of Other Microsoft Office Suite Tools
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience
  • Managerial or Supervisory experience an asset
  • Insurance Industry experience an asset
