VACANCY

 

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following position at the North-Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA).

DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

The incumbent is for the performance, integrity and security of databases throughout the Authority inclusive of designs and applications in an integrated and multi-platform computing environment.

Main Responsibilities:-

  • Identify database requirements by interviewing the end users via analyzing the department’s applications, programming and operation’s needs.
  • Evaluate existing systems and design proposed systems.
  • Develop guidelines and upgrade techniques of new operational procedures for the support of databases, hardware systems, software applications, networking software, security and client server systems.
  • Implement, configure, and troubleshoot databases inclusive of replication, back-up, partitions, storage, and access.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance using index tuning, disk optimization, and other methods.
  • Recommend solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up and recovery systems.
  • Support database functions by designing and coding utilities.
  • Develop software to meet user and/or internal specifications.
  • Storage management, security and audit management, participation in designing, coding, testing, and implementing database stored procedures, packages, and triggers. 
  • Prepare users by conducting training, providing information and resolving problems.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by the appropriate organisational relationship.

Minimum Qualification, Requirements and Experience:-

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or an equivalent IT (Information Technology) programme from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience inclusive of database management, systems analysis programming and SQL Server.
  • Experience with patient care-oriented databases and health care based financial and administrative database applications would be an asset.

* Certificates acquired at foreign universities MUST be supported by certified transcripts as well as evidence that the completed programme is accredited in Trinidad and Tobago. *
