Communications for Development Specialist
The PIOJ is seeking to identify a suitably qualified candidate to fill the position of Communications for Development Specialist on a fixed term contractual basis.
Job Summary
The incumbent will lead the formulation and delivery of a results-based Communications for Development Strategy and Plan in support of the implementation of Jamaica’s current National Development Plan / Vision 2030 Jamaica. The strategy and plan will include approaches and programmes for social marketing, brand management, knowledge and information sharing geared towards inclusive engagement of stakeholders in national development.
Core Functions
- Coordinate the formulation and implementation of a results-based Communications for Development Strategy and Plan, to include:
a) Design and develop content and manage the delivery of consultations, knowledge and information sharing, and social marketing with the range of stakeholders.
b) Coordinate the development and maintenance of the Vision 2030 Jamaica electronic and media products, services, and content including the website and social media pages.
- Prepare performance reports on the portfolio and support the preparation and presentation of user-friendly, accessible technical reports and information targeting different stakeholder groups and needs.
- Integrate/mainstream the 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the strategy and plan.
Qualification and Experience Required
- Graduate degree from an accredited/recognised institution in a relevant field, such as journalism, mass communications, communications for development or equivalent certification
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar and/or related field
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in networking and social media marketing and /or content writing
- Be conversant with the content of the Vision 2030 Jamaica - National Development Plan and successive MTFs
- Working knowledge of Government of Jamaica and International Development Partner (IDP) procurement guidelines and procedures
- Knowledge and skill in graphic design would be an advantage
