About the FSC:

The Financial Services Commission (FSC) is an integrated Financial Services regulator. Our mission is to regulate and supervise the Securities, Insurance, Private Pensions and Trust and Corporate Services providers for the protection of their users, thereby enhancing public confidence through the efforts of a competent workforce.

 We are seeking individuals who are self-directed, result-oriented, and have a passion for providing excellent service.

 The FSC has an immediate opening for the position of Communication Specialist.

 SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Communication Specialist is responsible for managing and facilitating the change and communication process within the FSC. The incumbent will plan, implement, and guide change activities communication to ensure minimal disruption and successful execution of activities. Works closely with internal stakeholders to understand how change within the organization will affect staff and develop and implement strategies to effectively manage the change process communication. Manages internal communication through new and established communication channels. Implement communication strategies to promote the FSC’s strategic initiatives and drive stakeholder engagement.

 MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive communication strategies that align with the FSC’s transformation and twin peak model implementation. This includes internal and external messaging, stakeholder engagement, and public relations efforts.
  • Identify internal communication gaps and collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve internal communication. Facilitate the flow of information between departments, leadership, and staff members.
  • Conduct communication impact assessments and stakeholder analysis.
  • Track engagement metrics and report on the success of communication efforts to leadership, making recommendations for improvements.
  • Act as the first point of contact for any communication-related crises. Develop and implement crisis communication strategies that protect the Agency’s reputation during misrepresentation or sensitive situations.
  • Develop and disseminate transformation and project communication.
  • Manage resistance to change and provide guidance to stakeholders during the transition.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure changes are implemented and coordinated effectively.
  • Provide communication training and support to senior leaders and team members, helping them develop the skills necessary to communicate effectively during the transformation.
  • Monitor the progress of change initiatives and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders to ensure ongoing engagement.

 Educational Requirement (s) 

  • Master’s degree in communication, public relations or related field.
  • Change Management certification would be an asset.

 Required Experience and Skills

  • At least 5 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field, with a focus on organizational change and transformation initiatives.
    • Experience executing communication strategies for organization transitions.
    • Effective communication skills and the ability to coordinate multiple activities in a complex, dynamic and multi-stakeholder environment is required.
