Description

A company in the construction and water industry is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to perform effective risk management and plan the organization’s financial strategy.  You will also build out and lead the finance functions as we scale.  This is an executive-level role and will handle accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, liquidity strategy and tax reporting for all companies. The role will report directly to the CEO.

Responsibilities:

Strategy, Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Drive the company’s financial planning
  • Perform risk management by analysing the organisation’s liabilities and investments
  • Decide on investment strategies by considering cash and liquidity risks
  • Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organisation’s operations
  • Supervise all finance personnel
  • Collaborate with the CEO on the strategic vision including fostering and cultivating customer and vendor relationships, as well as assisting in the development and negotiation of contracts.
  • Lead long-term budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with company’s strategic plan.
  • Development of short-term and long-term strategies for managing liquidity.
  • Set up and oversee the company’s finance IT system.
  • Ensure compliance with the law and company’s policies
  • Represent the company to financial partners, including financial institutions, investors, outside executive, auditors etc.


Accounting

  • Ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems
  • Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures across all companies
  • Ensure timeliness, accuracy and usefulness of financial and management; oversee the preparation and communication of monthly and annual financial documents.
  • Handle audit process and proper filing of tax returns for all companies
  • Oversee the coordination and activities of independent auditors ensuring the preparation of the annual financial statements is in accordance with IFRS and other required supplementary schedules and information.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and ensure a disaster recovery plan is in place and adequate record keeping of documents to meet all government and legal requirements.
  • Performs any other related duties as may be assigned.

 

Qualification/Specialised knowledge/skills:

  • ACCA/CPA designate
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a senior role.
  • Up to date knowledge of current financial and accounting computer applications.
  • Current knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organisational change and development within a growing organisation.
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpoersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, board of directors, and staff.
  • Ability to operate as an effective tactical as well as strategic thinker.
