Chief Accountant

Delta Supply Company Limited is seeking a Chief Accountant to support our Financial Controller in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of their financial operations. The ideal candidate will oversee general ledger accuracy, financial reporting, statutory compliance, and forecasting while leading the financial accounting team to achieve department objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure general ledger accounts are accurate, reconciled, and maintained.
  • Review accounts receivables and implement credit control strategies.
  • Oversee accounts payables and approve weekly cheque runs.
  • Maintain and update the fixed asset register.
  • Ensure timely submission of statutory returns to relevant authorities.
  • Reconcile sub-ledgers with the general ledger.
  • Review trial balance and financial statements.
  • Monitor expenditures, analyze revenues, and report budget variances.
  • Assist in financial forecasting, monthly management accounts, and annual budgeting.
  • Support the annual audit process.
  • Approve financial transactions within designated limits.
  • Supervise and develop the financial accounting team.
  • Participate in monthly and annual stock counts.

 

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

Education & Experience:

  • Degree in Accounting/Finance OR ACCA qualification with experience managing end-to-end finance processes.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Auditing experience with a keen eye for detail.
  • Experience in the Distribution/Manufacturing sector is preferred.

Technical Skills & Competencies:

  • High proficiency in Sage 300 and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong business acumen and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to influence at all levels with a track record of error-free, on-time financial reporting.
