Management Center and Toll Plazas.
JOB SUMMARY
The Building Maintenance Officer carries out maintenance and repair work on the buildings at Management Center and Toll Plazas. The incumbent duties will include carrying out minor electrical and plumbing work, repairing office furniture and fixing the bathroom facilities at all locations. He is required to update and maintain a record of all the maintain works carried out and is also responsible for conducting routine inspection on the building and its infrastructure relevant to the project.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Carries out minor repairs on buildings at the management center and toll plazas;
• Carries out day-to-day reactive maintenance issues.
• Repairs broken pipes and pipelines;
• Carries out minor electrical repairs on buildings;
• Replaces bulbs and installs water heaters when necessary;
• Reads meters and records information from meters for Jamaica Public Service and National Water Commission.
• Checks water tanks at the management centre in twice per day and inform the Administrative officer how water is left in the tanks.
• Carries out an inspection on buildings at all locations once per month to detect faulty equipment/infrastructure and carry out relevant repairs to ensure all systems are working in good order;
• Performs driving duties when requested
• Completes and submits Vehicle Inspection Checklist before driving the vehicle.
PHYSICAL/VISUAL/MENTAL DEMANDS & WORKING ENVIRONMENT
• This involves strenuous activity such as lifting of equipment, using ladders and scaffolding to get at high and restricted areas as well as confined spaces.
• In some cases, this might mean dealing with fragile structures, partially collapsed or unstable surfaces & ground, inspection of drainage systems and management of hazardous materials.
• As part of an emergency cover service, the officer can also be called out to any site at any time, night and day, and in all kinds of weather. Health and Safety procedures are of the utmost importance. Protective clothing - hard hats, strong boots and highly visible coats must be worn in these circumstances.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
• High School/Secondary Education
• Heart Trust/NTA certificate in a vocation area ( Plumbing, Masonry)
• At least two (2) years working in a similar field
• Skilled in the use of hand and power tools and ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.
