The Quantity Surveyor will manage the costs and contractual relationships associated with the Company’s construction projects thereby ensuring that projects are completed within budget. He/she will be integral in forecasting and pricing all project materials and resources.

Monitor costs changes/movements within the industry, associated with design and/or construction work and adjust budget projections accordingly. Prepare contracts, budgets, Bills of Quantities and all necessary documents for construction projects’ costs. Measure and value works completed on project sites. Preparing and submitting timely, detailed and precise project cost status. Reports must be accurate, unambiguous, grammatically correct and professionally organized. Manage the procurement of services of contractors and/or subcontractors in conjunction with the Company’s Project Managers. Submission of tenders for construction projects is a major focus of the Company and the Quantity Surveyor will assist in identifying such opportunities, manage the tender process and prepare all relevant tender documents.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages the Preparation of Tenders

  • Prepare Project Development Budgets

  • Prepare Project Proposals to facilitate Joint Venture Agreements and Partnerships

  • Review and Approve all Cost Estimates/Bills of Quantities/Take-Offs prepared by the Estimating Team

  • Maintain Costing Database

  • Assist in undertaking Site Suitability Assessments for Prospective Projects


QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • Numeracy and excellent budgeting  

  • The ability to successfully negotiate 

  • Possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Strong work ethics, organized, excellent leadership abilities combined with excellent written and oral communication 

  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge industry practices, procedures and players 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Projects, PowerPoint etc.) and commercial estimating software such as Timberline/Sage Estimating and CostX

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying or other related field

  • Postgraduate Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent 

  • Minimum Ten years of Experience in Construction Estimating 


TRAINING

  • Project Management

  • Preparing Tender and Contract Documents.

  • Microsoft Office Suite Applications

  • Leadership Training
