ASSISTANT ENGINEERING MANAGER
The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operational readiness of all port mobile equipment, including cranes, stackers, terminal tractors, bomb carts, and motor vehicles, ensuring their availability, reliability, and optimal deployment.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABLITIES / MAJOR TASKS:
- Lead and supervise maintenance teams in performing corrective repairs and preventive/predictive maintenance on port mobile equipment.
- Continuously enhance maintenance techniques for technical staff, ensuring methods are well-documented and implemented effectively.
- Participate in root cause analysis to minimize future equipment failures or incidents.
- Assist in managing capital projects and procurement processes related to equipment maintenance.
- Identify training needs and provide coaching to technical staff to enhance competencies and
- performance.
- Recommend necessary spare parts to prevent equipment downtime and ensure reliability.
- Provide departmental oversight including the approval of purchase requisitions, cheque requisitions, and payroll information the absence of the Director of Engineering.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum twelve (12) years’ experience in industrial maintenance with heavy-duty equipment, including at least 7 years in a supervisory role.
- P.E (Professional Engineer) Certification is strongly preferred.
- Certification in Project Management would be an asset.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Proficient in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of port mobile equipment, with a strong understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop maintenance teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety.
- Experience in managing capital projects and overseeing procurement processes related to equipment maintenance.
- Skilled in conducting root cause analysis to identify and mitigate equipment failures.
- Proficient in maintenance planning and execution, with a focus on preventive and predictive maintenance.
