Accounting Officer

JOB SUMMARY:

The Accounting Officer will report directly to the ACCOUNTS MANAGER and will need to demonstrate the ability to work proactively and independently in a fast-paced office environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include (but are not limited to) the following:

  1. To perform professional level accounting work according to prescribed accounting procedure and generally accepted principles of accounting.
  2. Maintain the accounts of related companies; UCC Academy Limited and IMS Limited.
  3. Analyze and reconcile bank statements and general ledgers.
  4. Prepare and post journal entries for Bank charges.
  5. Prepare purchase orders as requested.
  6. Prepare invoices for billing.
  7. Liason with the GCT department to secure zero rated certificates.
  8. Assist with reviewing of expenses as assigned.
  9. Act as a liaison for vendors to reconcile any billing discrepancies.
  10. To produce monthly reports and assist with month end closing.
  11. To provide supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
  12. Any other duties to meet the exigencies of the service.

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of the general principles and accounting practices and procedures.
  • Fully competent with computer skills and being able to utilize electronic data processing programs relating to accounts.
  • Being able to provide information and assistance in a timely manner
  • Maintain confidentiality of information obtained during the course of work.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationship with those contacted in the course of work;
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize work effectively
