Job Summary:


We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant - Inventory Costing to join our finance team in the automotive sector. This role focuses on accurately tracking, costing, and analyzing inventory in line with automotive parts and manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have a background in accounting with experience in inventory costing, particularly in the automotive industry, and will be able to assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports related to inventory costs.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in tracking and recording inventory for automotive parts and vehicles, ensuring accurate cost assessments.
  • Calculate and send/post inventory costs for warehouse department/new vehicle sales to receive goods
  • Reconcile and maintain accurate records of inventory transactions, highlighting discrepancies and working with the warehouse and procurement teams to resolve any issues.
  • Assist in coordinating and conducting periodic physical inventory counts, ensuring the accuracy of inventory valuation.
  • Provide support in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and year-end inventory-related financial reports.
  • Review purchase orders, supplier invoices, and inventory receipts to ensure accurate costing and proper documentation.
  • Assist in the application of costing methods to ensure accurate inventory valuation according to company policies and industry standards.
  • Support the accounting department in preparing for internal and external audits by providing inventory-related documentation and explanations as needed.
  • Collaborate with the procurement, manufacturing, and logistics teams to ensure that inventory costs align with production schedules and manufacturing requirements.

 

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • Previous experience in inventory costing, accounting, or a similar role, ideally within the automotive industry.
  • Familiarity with the automotive supply chain, including parts manufacturing, assembly, and distribution processes.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
  • Knowledge of automotive-specific inventory systems and costing methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, particularly as they relate to inventory costing and cost of goods sold (COGS).
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams, including procurement, manufacturing, and logistics, to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to analyze complex inventory data and generate accurate cost reports.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with internal teams and external suppliers.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with cost accounting, including standard costing and variance analysis, within the automotive or manufacturing sectors.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and financial reporting requirements (e.g., GAAP).
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or automotive-related environment.
  • Familiarity with automotive inventory management software or systems.
