The Accountant is responsible for assisting the Finance Manager in administering the Company's financial management accounting systems, internal controls and treasury functions for all GCG Group companies based in Barbados.
The Accountant is responsible for assisting the Finance Manager in administering the Company's financial management accounting systems, internal controls and treasury functions within the organization, in addition to developing and executing the financial policies, procedures, and objectives for all GCG Group companies based in Barbados.
Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for the preparation of accurate and timely Financial Reports as well as Bank Reconciliation Statements.
- Supervises the Accounts Department and the Accounts Receivable and Payable process.
- Maintains the general ledger for Goddard Catering Group (Barbados) Ltd. and sister companies.
- Produces the financial documentation as required by government entities.
- Prepare returns/surveys as requested by various government bodies.
- Maintains accurate inventories for Goddard Catering Group (Barbados) Ltd. and sister companies.
- Prepares and completes accurate flash reports.
- Prepares financial documentation and payments as required by GAIA Inc. for rental of the space at the airport for all companies.
- Prepares and develops audit schedules for all financial audits.
- Monitors and maintains the integrity of inventory and fixed assets data.
- Collaborates with the Finance Manager and contributes to the preparation and development of the annual and bi-annual budget.
- Evaluates and assists in maintaining efficient and effective internal controls.
- To review the various accounts sub-ledger for Goddard Catering Group (Barbados) Ltd. and sister companies.
- To prepare, reconcile and distribute intercompany statements for Goddard Catering Group (Barbados) Ltd. and sister companies.
- Attend all required operational meetings held by the Client and Company, including Staff, Management and/or other stakeholders’ meetings.
- Represent the company at committee meetings and functions as required
- Review work schedules and staff assignments, constantly managing manpower cost within the department to ensure effective implementation and adherence.
- Set rules and procedures for employees to follow. This includes setting policies in the workplace to ensure effective implementation and adherence among every employee in the department.
- Conduct yearly employee performance appraisals, after continuous assessments and jointly discuss any required training needs and career development plans with Human Resources Department.
Qualifications & Skills
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or in a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Must have completed, or in the final stages of completing the ACCA, CGA or equivalent program.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar position.
- Experience in Catering or Ground Handling / Aviation would be an asset.
- Excellent numerical, analytical skills and financial acumen.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Advanced working knowledge of MS Office suite.
- Competency working with Adagio or a similar accounting package.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain an environment of trust, diversity, and inclusion.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and stay self-motivated with minimal supervision.
- Highly trained in budget development with a demonstrated ability to prepare accurate budgets and effectively manage expenses.
- Excellent ability to execute financial strategies, provide recommendations and prepare financial reports.
- Possess a positive attitude and be willing to work on a flexible schedule.
- Proven time management, leadership, and delegation skills to coordinate and engage team members.
