Interested persons are invited to apply for the position of Technical Support Officer within the Information Technology Department.

Job Purpose

The Technical Support Officer, Core Banking will support the Company’s core banking infrastructure, ensuring it is always efficient and operational, and guarantees the integrity of the company’s data and prevents unauthorised access. Provide support on operational issues and problems associated with the performance and availability of the systems or related resources.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design, development, user-acceptance testing, and documentation of systems
  • Assists in the installation and configuration of hardware and software
  • Assists in the maintenance and upgrade of hardware peripherals
  • Troubleshoots software related problems and provides technical and programming support for all business functions required
  • Liaises with system vendor support desk to troubleshoot software problems
  • Analyses data mining requirements and recommends improvements to existing systems to ensure that business needs are met
  • Provides Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity support in the event of system outages
  • Verifies that the infrastructure is operational at all times and assist with system backup and restores
  • Assists in the evaluation and implementation of technology solutions
  • Maintains the integrity and security of systems
  • Creates and maintain all systems user documentation
  • Assists with all end of period processing and reporting as required
  • Assists in providing users with IT training suitable to their functions
  • Verifies that users achieve adequate levels of competency in their use of the company’s systems
  • Maintains all IT systems user documentation and databases
  • Prepares training manuals for user training
  • Reviews work conducted by the Technical Support Assistant and any other staff as assigned
  • Assists in the research, evaluation and deployment of new IT solutions both hardware and software
  • Makes recommendations for the improvement of IT operations

 

Job Skills

  • Substantial knowledge of Core Banking Application software, all leading-edge technologies & tools
  • Substantial knowledge of the IBM ISeries hardware and operating systems.
  • Substantial knowledge of IT concepts, data management systems and internal processes
  • Specialist knowledge of project management techniques and tools
  • Specialist knowledge of programming languages and techniques
  • Expert computer proficiency, with working knowledge of Microsoft office suite of products
  • Specialist reliability and dependability skills
  • Specialist communication skills
  • Specialist teamworking and decision-making skills
  • Specialist ability to remain flexible
  • Specialist ability to perform in a high stress and high-pressure environment

 

Minimum Requirements

  • BSc Information Technology or equivalent certification.
  • Three (3) years in IT System Operations.
  • Systems Analysis & Design, IBM ISeries and XSeries servers, Programming RPG and Linux.
