The Youth Programme Officer is responsible for a variety of key functions, including contributing to the design and development of youth programs, providing technical support for program interventions, and overseeing the measurement, research, and documentation of program outcomes.
Reporting to the Community Services Lead, the Youth and Sports Project Officer will oversee the planning, implementation, and governance strengthening of youth-focused initiatives and community-based sports programmes within the community. This role emphasises not only sports engagement but also the development of youth leadership skills and the establishment of effective governance structures within youth groups. Key Responsibilities include:
Programme Development:
Develop and implement youth-focused sports programmes that not only promote physical activities but also integrate leadership training, governance workshops, and community engagement activities.
Youth Leadership Development:
Facilitate leadership workshops, training sessions, and mentorship programmes to empower young individuals to take on leadership roles within sports activities and community projects.
Governance Strengthening:
Assist youth groups in establishing effective governance structures, including creating bylaws organising elections, and fostering transparent decision-making processes.
Community Engagement:
Collaborate with local schools, youth organisations, and community leaders to encourage youth participation in sports and governance activities, fostering a sense of community ownership.
Event Planning and Coordination:
Organise sports events, tournaments, and workshops that incorporate elements of leadership development and governance principles for youth participants.
Partnership Building:
Establish partnerships with stakeholders, including local governments, NGOs, and sports organisations, to support youth-led initiatives and ensure access to resources and facilities.
Evaluation and Reporting:
Monitor the effectiveness of leadership and governance initiatives, collect feedback, and prepare reports to assess impact and drive continuous improvement.
Represent Project STAR through speaking engagements, media events, in interviews and other public events.
Undertake any other duties as requested by the Project Director.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Youth Development, or related field; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
