Our client is seeking a strategic and results-driven Vice President – Finance (VP) to lead their financial operations and drive organizational growth. This senior leadership role is pivotal in shaping financial strategy, ensuring compliance, and optimizing efficiency across the organization.

Core Responsibilities

  • Policy Development and Compliance:
    • Design, implement, and maintain financial policies, procedures, and controls aligned with international accounting standards.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory, statutory, and audit requirements.
  • Financial Strategy and Planning:
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop strategic financial plans that align with organizational objectives.
    • Oversee the preparation of annual budgets, operational plans, and performance metrics.
    • Provide expert financial advice to senior leaders to support revenue generation and cost optimization.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Present monthly financial statements, quarterly reports, and KPIs to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
    • Monitor financial performance, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Audit and Risk Management:
    • Lead external and internal audits, ensuring timely execution and compliance with recommendations.
    • Implement systems to maintain the integrity of financial records and audit trails.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Build and lead a high-performing finance team, fostering professional growth and succession planning.
    • Provide mentorship and coaching to team members to enhance individual and departmental capabilities.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Partner with various departments to drive process improvement, efficiency, and innovation.
    • Represent the organization in financial matters locally and internationally, as needed.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Professional accounting designation (ACCA, CPA, or CA) is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a senior financial leadership role.
  • Experience in the banking or financial services industry is an asset.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting systems and advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.

 

Key Competencies and Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a systematic approach to challenges.
  • Deep understanding of Jamaica’s tax regulations and financial reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, IAS, SAS, and IFRS standards.
  • Expertise in ACCPAC and SAGE 300 systems.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
