Internal Auditor

JOB DESCRIPTION 

CORE FUNCTIONS:

  • The Internal Auditor is responsible for general accounting, internal controls and other financial reporting activities as directed by the Financial Controller.
  • To assist the Company with its development, implementation, evaluation and promotion of internal controls.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the company's various operations and departments to evaluate processes and associated controls, providing recommendations to resolve control issues and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, improve efficiency, and enhance financial reporting accuracy.
  • Perform and manage internal audits of routine transactions across the different operational segments to monitor compliance with applicable government regulations, IFRS and financial policies.
  • Carry out special audits and research as required by the Financial Controller and or Managing Director.
  • Examine and determine the adequacy of the system of internal controls and offer recommendations where applicable.
  • Assist with preparations for audits, responding to information requests and preparing assigned client schedules for external auditors.
  • Review sales invoices, costing, journal postings, and other documents for correct submission / entry.
  • Perform the review of the ‘Cashier Daily Report’ and agreeing lodgments prepared for submission to the bank.
  • Review and approve petty cash imprest funds when required.
  • Carry out random cash audits.
  • Prepare monthly work plans.
  • Formulate internal audit reports to incorporate analysis of findings, recommendations and cross referenced working paper files for review by Financial Controller/Chief Accountant/Directors.
  • Perform other ad-hoc financial and accounting assignments as needed.

LIAISON:

Liaises internally with the following:

  •  Managing Director
  •  Financial Controller
  •  Chief Accountant/Senior Accountant

Liaises externally with the following:

  • External Auditor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, ACCA - Level II or the equivalent.
  • Minimum two years of audit experience in a multi-national or medium size company.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS, Controlling, and/or Corporate Finance matters).
  • Knowledge of ADP/CDK would be an asset.
  • CIA or equivalent professional credential is a plus.

 

 

Junior Accountant

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will provide support to the Finance Department by conducting daily accounting tasks. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles and able to work comfortably with numbers and attention to detail.The goal is to contribute to the overall efficient operation of the department and help the company to be fully aware of its’ financial condition.

CORE FUNCTIONS:

  • Execute basic accounting functions to facilitate preparation of monthly/yearly  financial statements and reports
  • Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
  • Assist in preparing year-end audit schedules
  • Checking cashiers lodgment summary
  • Relief cashier:
  1. Process customer transactions to include the receival of payments and generating of invoices/receipts.
  2. Generate and reconcile cashiers’ sales report when required.
  3.  Compute and prepare lodgments for submission to the bank when required.
  • Perform other administrative support roles

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Pursuing ACCA Applied Skills Level Certification OR Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Working knowledge of relevant information technology systems and applications.
  • Knowledge of ADP/CDK would be an asset.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a junior accounting position would be an asset.
