The Underwriter will be required to market COLFIRE’s products and services, assess and accept risks pertaining to all General Insurance products and services.

JOB SUMMARY

The Underwriter will be required to market COLFIRE’s products and services, assess and accept risks pertaining to all General Insurance products and services.  The applicant will also be required to professionally and effectively represent the Company, analyse data/market activities, recognise trends and make recommendations on strategies and products. 

OBJECTIVES

  1. To develop business relationships with Customers and Intermediaries to the benefit of all (parties) 
  1. To market COLFIRE’s products and services, negotiate premiums and underwrite quality risks in keeping with the company’s Underwriting guidelines.   
  1. To maintain in all transactions the highest standards of quality and service in keeping with COLFIRE’s Core Values 
  1. To professionally and effectively represent COLFIRE and deliver excellent customer service in every interaction. 
  1. To consistently contribute to the continuing development of COLFIRE and its products and services 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Undertake assessments of risks and provide quotations, for all lines of business 
  1. Process new, renewal and endorsement transactions and ensure all required documents are uploaded to the Insurance Application. 
  1. Respond to enquiries from internal and external customers, Agents and Brokers 
  1. Set/Clear Vehicle Certificate & Printing Schedule Restrictions Bypass on 4D 
  1. Perform vehicle inspections and conduct surveys for Insurance purposes. 
  1. Visit and/or conduct presentations for corporate clients if required 
  1. Receive funds and process receipts for internal and external customers and safeguard and account for funds collected 
  1. Log onto ZOPIM 5 minutes before the start of the workday and ensure that all chats are responded to daily 
  1. Log onto CISCO 5 minutes before the start of the workday and ensure that all calls are responded to daily 
  1. Undertake and/or supervise the End of Day process and prepare supporting documents and reports 
  1. Monitor and ensure new policy documents/file to Clerical daily for you and your Team 
  1. Monitor, review and update policies earmarked for renewal  
  1. Monitor and process refund transactions and assign registries to Finance to prepare payments 
  1. As authorised by Manager, examine and authorize all transactions e.g. new, refund, endorsements, letters, for All lines of business in keeping with Underwriting guidelines 
  1. Assist the Team Lead with the daily operations of the Team. 
  1. Assist with training and development of Underwriting staff 
  1. Conduct telemarketing for customers, Agents and Sales Representatives within agreed timelines to support and improve customer retention. 
  1. Analyse and prepare monthly production and any other reports as may be required. 
  1. Analyse data/market information and activities to recognise trends and make recommendations to develop strategies and products. 
  1. Attend and represent COLFIRE at promotions 
  1. Monitor and coordinate the daily operations of the Team in the Team Lead’s absence 
  1. Attend and contribute by generating and sharing ideas at team and other general meetings 
  1. Work closely with team members and interface regularly with other teams to achieve the Company’s Strategic Objectives 
  1. Perform any other duties and activities as they relate to the operations of the Company 

Qualifications/Education & Experience Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s Degree  
  • TTII State License/Dip CII or other General Insurance qualification  
  • Minimum of 3 ½ years’ experience as an Assistant Underwriter or similar position in the industry
