Treasury Officer

The ideal incumbent will focus on verifying the accuracy of all transactions and maintain account integrity as well as verifying the input into the accounting system.

 

Job Summary

The Treasury Officer will be responsible for managing daily funding requirements and ensure accurate reconciliation of financial transactions, supporting the organization’s cash management strategy while adhering to established policies and procedures.

 

Major Responsibilities

Cash Management

  • Monitor daily cash balances, cash flows and manage liquidity to support business needs.
  • Oversee cash positioning including investment decisions
  • Coordinate with internal departments to forecast cash requirements and recommend optimal cash levels.
  • Prepare and analyse weekly cash flow forecasts.
  • Perform daily lodgement of cash and cheque deposits, resolving any discrepancies or bank issues.

Banking & Investments

  • Maintain and manage relationships with financial institutions to facilitate banking operations and all non-cash payments.
  • Monitor short-term investment portfolio and assist with the implementation of investment strategies to ensure they align with company objectives
  • Ensure all investments comply with regulatory requirements and are in line with company policies.

Risk Management

  • Monitor and mitigate financial risks by analyzing market trends, currency exposure, and interest rates.
  • Assist with the development and implement strategies to hedge against potential risks and ensure capital preservation.

 

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports on cash positions, bank reconciliations, lodgement control and other treasury activities.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations to management on liquidity performance and opportunities.
  • Ensure accurate financial data and timely reporting for decision-making purposes.

 

Compliance and Policy Adherence

  • Ensure treasury activities comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of relevant financial regulations and recommend policy updates as needed.

 

Process Improvement

  • Identify and assist with the implementation of process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs within treasury operations and the wider company.

 

Academic qualifications and experience required for the job:

  • B.Sc. Accounting/ Finance or equivalent professional qualifications from a recognized tertiary institution
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a related area within the Finance field.
  • Proven track record in a similar capacity
  • Experience using SAGE 300 will be an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of principles, procedures and practices in finance, treasury and accounting
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical skills
