The Technical Operator facilitates the continuous and efficient operation of the assigned production line or machine or equipment and perform initial technical/maintenance interventions and systematically execute tasks in keeping with all operational standards.

Duties and Responsibilties:
  • Monitor the production machine/equipment and condition, taking the necessary steps to adjust and fix mechanical problems to achieve and to improve targets and KPIs (safety, quality, delivery, cost).
  • Analyze and resolve basic process and quality problems/breakdown performing root cause analysis using the problem-solving tools.
  • Ensure accurate filling of Batch Record and Master Batch Record during the production.
  • Document all production activities, controls, cleanings, maintenance, setting and adjustments with accuracy and integrity in the available documents and in accordance with the applicable procedures (e.g. logbooks, database, tracking file, etc.) to solve the quality and operational troubles to achieve/exceed the established targets.
  • Ensure that the process and products meet the quality standards and take proper corrective actions if needed, to be in line with quality procedures and to achieve required specifications.
  • Execute all activities related to machines starts/stops and blend/brand changes, preventive, planned, and reactive maintenance to ensure product integrity.
  • Make checks on the line and on products in production. Depending on demand and needs, provide support and carry out additional quality checks for additional requests by the support services.
  • Assume the role of Quality Champion inside the team/shift.
  • Analyze machine/equipment performance and conditions and suggest improvements applying problem solving and lean methodology and tools, e.g. Plan Do Check Act (PDCA).
  • Adhere to continuous improvement process, in line with Change Management procedure.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of standards, settings and best practices.
  • Propose ideas, participate and/or lead the implementation of solutions to improve the quality and/or efficiency of machines and product quality to meet customer requirements.
  • Maintain ongoing record of maintenance and continuous improvement of output level and cleanliness in your area.
  • Monitor turnaround results through the analysis of productive and qualitative data using IT systems to propose alternative solutions for process improvement.
  • Ensure good functioning of the assigned machine/equipment, identify and fix problems during production and record them in database/logbook.
  • Identify defects and potential actions to solve them to avoid breakdowns.
  • Support equipment/machine installation and modifications, when required.
  • Analyze and resolve technical production problems/breakdowns and quality issues, performing root cause analysis using the troubleshooting systems and tools (e.g. IPS, UPS, BDE) and propose actions to solve the problems, using problem solving tools.     
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Minimum Technical Certification or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics and or Industrial Engineering.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a plant/production operator and a journeyman certificate.   
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a Manufacturing environment. 
  • Experience in the Tobacco Industry would be considered an asset.
