PARALEGAL SECRETARY (TEMPORARY)

JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for providing administrative and records management services for the legal function. The scope of responsibility includes preparing, processing and formatting legal papers, documents and correspondences inclusive of contracts, leases, commissions of enquiry, disciplinary hearings and other regulatory functions.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• BSc. in Business Administration, Management Studies or equivalent qualification
• Certificate in Paralegal Studies
• A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a similar capacity

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepare and process legal papers, contracts, leases, and documents/ correspondence in respect of commissions of enquiry, disciplinary hearings, and other regulatory functions.
• Arrange appointments, meetings, seminars, etc. for the VP/AVP of the Department and take and prepare Minutes of meetings as required.
• Responsible for efficient routing of incoming and outgoing correspondence.
• Prepare conditions precedents and request consents and approvals in relation to financing projects.
• Prepare legal documents, papers, and correspondence, such as briefs, pleadings, etc.
• Arrange Board of Survey meetings, ensuring that minutes are prepared and that directives arising from the meetings are carried out in a timely manner.
• Prepare Annual Returns and other documents to be filed with the Registrar of Companies.
• Assist in the preparation and transcription of the Department’s quarterly meeting minutes as required.
• Establish and maintain files for pending and in-processing court cases and other records.
