About the role

As a Systems Engineer (Security), you will provide technical expertise for the maintenance of IT security solutions. This will include troubleshooting and diagnosing network security incidents and bringing those incidents to resolution.

Key responsibilities:

  • Remote and onsite delivery of troubleshooting and break-fix, maintenance and operational services to customers, in line with agreed SLA specifications and international best practices.
  • Follows established processes/systems and recommends improvements to these as appropriate to resolve routine customer enquiries. Documents actions taken to resolve enquiries.
  • Speedy resolution of problems, avoiding escalation, or escalating in a timely manner.
  • Escalates issues as necessary to deliver required service level and meet or exceed customer expectations/SLA.
  • Provision of technical advice to customers and colleagues.
  • Ensuring that service delivery results in customer satisfaction.
  • Implementation of a range of network security system solutions, from simple to moderate complexity.
  • Construction of stable, fault-free and maintainable solutions.
  • Prepares and manages documentation of IT solutions and changes to existing IT solutions including writing technical and incident reports.
  • Takes initiative to drive own technical and professional development by pursuing applicable training and certification.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry available diagnostic systems, tools and equipment. Possesses a solid diagnostic approach that solves customer problems with little to no assistance.
  • May be required to assist lower-level colleagues in completing objectives.

Key experience and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in ISP Support, Help Desk Support or related networking position
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts - VLAN, WAN, LAN, Routers, Switches, Access Points, Firewalls, IPS, VPN and other layer 2/3/4 networking protocols/concepts.
  • Knowledge of UNIX operating system Solaris, Linux or Windows Administration
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, and security protocols.
  • Vendor or Industry standard certification (e.g. Comptia Network +, Comptia Security +, CCNA)
