 Systems Administrator (Retail Company)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Systems Administrator to join our retail company's IT department. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for maintaining, supporting, and securing the company's computer systems, networks, and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and administer the company's computer systems, networks, and servers to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.
  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software components, including servers, workstations, routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement necessary adjustments or upgrades to ensure efficient operation.
  • Respond to and resolve system and network outages, incidents, and other technical issues in a timely manner, escalating problems when necessary.
  • Maintain and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards to protect the company's data, systems, and networks from unauthorized access, viruses, and other threats.
  • Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure data integrity and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with IT team members and other stakeholders to plan, implement, and support technology projects and initiatives.
  • Perform routine system maintenance tasks, such as applying patches, updates, and security fixes to operating systems and software.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and user guides.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in system administration and IT security.
  • Train, teach, interpret and instruct others on system use and provide technical guidance as necessary.
  • Provide support per request from various locations and business divisions.
  • Integrally involved in the technical aspect of inventory management, stock taking and Point of Sale functions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience as a Systems Administrator, preferably in a retail or multi-location environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
  • Proficiency in managing and troubleshooting networking technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and VLANs.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Solid understanding of cyber security principles and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and end-users.
  • Proactive and detail-oriented approach to work, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Must own a reliable motor vehicle
