SUSTAINABILITY DATA SPECIALIST
Applications are invited from persons with suitable qualifications to fill the position of “Sustainability Data Specialist” at the Group Sustainability Unit.
The jobholder is responsible for:
- Ensuring that the Group’s Sustainability/Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) data and technology systems are operational, supporting the execution of all Sustainability/ESG strategies using these systems, driving the integration of these systems, providing technical support to users on complex problems and supervising any support staff which may be required.
- Providing relevant training and coordination strategies to optimize the Group’s Sustainability/ESG data management requirements.
- Acquiring, integrating and expressing data generated from and required by RFHL’s commitments under the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEPFI) – Principles of Responsible Banking (PRB), Net Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Planning, monitoring and controlling all Sustainability/ESG data and technology needs for the Group.
These functions will include:
- Collecting, synthesizing and developing data and technology management systems for the Group Sustainability/ESG strategy as governed by RFHL’s Group Sustainability Policy Framework and Guidance Document.
- Analyzing and presenting information in well structured, visually appealing, audience appropriate formats with minimal iterations.
- Monitoring performance of programs and identify optimization strategies.
- Providing guidance on technically complex initiatives.
- Ensuring all system documentation and instructions are maintained and clear for users.
- Ensuring all potential risk factors affecting the system are identified, addressed and/or communicated.
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with other data management functions throughout the Group and formalizing channels for receiving ESG specific data streams.
Activities will include:
- Reviewing data extracted from internal systems as well as existing systems to identify existing and potential opportunities in Sustainability/ESG data management.
- Coordinating working sessions with other internal stakeholders and lead discussions to identify specific ESG related data sharing, collection and management strategies.
- Drafting necessary policies for approval for ESG/Sustainability Data Management Strategy.
- Preparing and delivering presentations, which may be related to core function.
- Ensuring all implemented systems are error free.
- Managing data requirements of the Group Sustainability Council.
- Developing education and awareness training materials related to ESG data collection and access. Coordinating any Group related training arrangements as required.
Duties include:
- Identity training needs representative of Group diversity and structures and recommending types of training to meet ESG data needs.
- Assisting in coordinating and providing technical support to relevant training sessions as required.
- Conducting training where applicable.
- Identifying and championing new technology and ideas regarding data management which will help in driving ESG mainstreaming throughout RFHL’s internal and external stakeholders. Evaluating the impact of change.
Activities will include:
- Researching industry best practices regarding ESG specific data management within the financial sector.
- Drafting supporting documentation for approval if recommendations are being made to acquire new technology.
- Organizing and preparing relevant training as required.
- Identifying gaps with ESG data access and sharing throughout the group and developing management plans to address.
Day to day activities include but not limited to:
- Performing duties to understand and assess current data streams throughout the Group.
- Understanding clearly the data requirements for the international agreement portfolios of the Unit and making recommendations for integration across the Group.
- Managing the resulting change processes accordingly.
- Coordinating with Management to execute planned and ad-hoc data analysis to support RFHL’s strategic business needs.
Duties include:
- Liaising with Manager to understand the frequency, characteristics and technical levels of ad-hoc requests.
- Developing systems to store, access and manipulate data for ad-hoc requests.
- Recommending innovative and visually appealing methods for data usage, especially for high-level meetings, conferences and other events.
- Motivating, coaching, training, developing and mentoring staff under supervision to achieve the Unit and Group’s ESG/Sustainability objectives and targets. Performing administrative functions related to performance management, attendance and DEI.
GENERAL QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS:
The jobholder should have:
- B.Sc. in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Systems or related technical field
- Minimum five (5) years’ related experience as a Data Analyst
- Working knowledge and experience in relevant digital data management applications
- Ability to build and manage flexible databases
- Exceptional analytical skills and proven capability to drive insights from data and analytics

- Excellent written & oral communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across different geographic locations and business units
