Job Summary:

The Sustainability Analyst reports to the Senior Manager- HSS and will work with departments across the organization as well as external stakeholders to progress various sustainability related projects which have been identified by the Senior Manager- HSS and/or the ESG Committee. The Sustainability Analyst is responsible for a wide range of functions to the office of the Senior Manager- HSS and ensures that information is handled in a confidential manner. The efforts of this job contribute towards PPGPL’s overall HSS targets. The position is also required to provide related support to the group of companies, its subsidiaries and new business ventures as required.

Dimensions:

PPGPL places a premium on the achievement and maintenance of the highest possible health, safety, security and sustainability standards for its operations. The Sustainability Analyst is responsible for progressing various sustainability initiatives which have been agreed to by the ESG Committee and PPGPL’s Leadership Team. This requires the incumbent to interface with members of the ESG Committee, employees across the organization as well as various external stakeholders. In executing the mandate of the role, the incumbent will also be responsible for ensuring PPGPL’s alignment with the sustainability objectives of the NGC Group and its subsidiaries. The Sustainability Analyst operates under the guidance of the Senior Manager- HSS and has a financial approval limit of $0.

 

Nature & Scope:

The Sustainability Analyst is assigned to an integral team reporting to the Senior Manager- HSS and provides crucial support to the ESG Committee. The incumbent performs a wide variety of duties assisting the Senior Manager- HSS and Senior Specialist - Health and Sustainability in the research, analysis, implementation, and monitoring of sustainability related activities. The position also provides a high level of customer service which reflects the company’s values and supports achieving the organization’s sustainability targets. Execution of work in the position usually requires considerable interaction with both internal and external stakeholders. The incumbent must demonstrate a high degree of teamwork, interpersonal skills, communication skills and technical analysis in support of PPGPL’s sustainability agenda.

Individual’s Safety Responsibility:

Work shall be conducted according to established safe practices and procedures as outlined in PPGPL’s Safety Manual. The incumbent also plays an active role in assisting the Senior Manager- HSS in executing PPGPL’s safety mandate.

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

The main function of this roles will be to lead the completion of various sustainability related projects which includes the following:

  1. Support publication of PPGPL’s ESG Reports aligned with relevant international standards.
  2. Support the process of acquiring an ESG Rating for PPGPL with recognized international agency.
  3. Support completion and update of a Climate Risk Assessment and Double Materiality Assessment.
  4. Reporting to regulatory agencies.
  5. Molecular Sieve Disposal.
  6. Green House Gas (GHG) Emissions reporting.
  7. Enhancement and updating of PPGPL Sustainability Metrics.
  8. Supports the ESG Committee in advancing various short, medium, and long-term sustainability projects.
  9. Supports the ESG Committee in delivering the terms of reference contained in PPGPL’s ESG Committee Charter.
  10. Supports the development and update of PPGPL policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  11. Supports the Senior Manager- HSS and Senior Specialist - Health and Sustainability in developing PPGPL Sustainability Videos.
  12. Assist with digitizing the current manual process for entering data into dashboards for PPGPL’s Sustainability Metrics to assist with improved accessibility and reduced manual data entry.
  13. Contributes positively to the sustainability culture of the organization.
  14. Performs other related duties as required.
  15. Leads and or participates in Committees and cross-functional teams in accordance with roles and duties identified as per workplan and or team charters.
  16. Provides support to PPGPL’s subsidiary business units on an as-needed basis as part of the shared services model between PPGPL and its subsidiary entities.

 

Job Specifications

Minimum Acceptable Academic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Sciences or a related discipline (such as Environmental Science or Sustainability) from and accredited tertiary institution.

AND

Minimum Number of Years of Relevant Experience

Minimum of 2 years related experience.

 

Specific Skills and Knowledge:

 

  • Good communication skills both written and oral.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an excellent team player.
  • Ability to adjust priorities in a rapidly changing environment, provides timely responses and manages time effectively.
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to take initiative to resolve issues.
  • Advanced computer skills - including database software, Microsoft Application Suite.
  • Knowledge of global and local sustainability trends as well as applicable laws and regulations.

 

Other Requirements:

The Sustainability Analyst needs to be a flexible individual with strong interpersonal skills who will embrace the culture of working in a highly dynamic environment that is safety, production, and performance oriented. 

Working contacts:

The Sustainability Analyst will have to establish good working relationships with the ESG Committee, all departments in PPGPL as well as external stakeholders. Good relationships will be necessary to influence, persuade and thus ensure co-operation in meeting company targets and objectives.
