Surgical Scrub Technician
Job Summary
The Surgical Scrub Technician will be responsible for playing a critical role in ensuring the success of surgeries by assisting in preparation and support of surgical procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare the operating room for surgery by arranging and sterilizing instruments and equipment.
Assist in the selection of appropriate instruments and supplies needed for the procedure.
Maintain a sterile field throughout the procedure.
Hand instruments and supplies to the surgeon during the procedure.
Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
Follow all infection control procedures and ensure the operating room is clean and ready for the next surgery.
Document all necessary information in the patient's chart
Assist in preparing the patients for surgery by cleaning and/or shaving the skin when necessary.
Assist the surgical team to “scrub in”, i.e.: thoroughly washing the hands and arms, donning a sterile surgical gown, cap, and face mask, and putting on surgical gloves to ensure the operating room is as sterile.
Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate quality, health, safety, security and environmental policies and procedures.
Perform any other job duties as required by the job function.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Minimum Education and Qualifications
High School Diploma with a minimum 5 Ordinary Level passes inclusive of English Language, Mathematics and a science subject.
Certification in a surgical technology program from a recognised, accredited institution
Experience
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a surgical setting.
Experience in using MS Office Suite.
Or any equivalent combination of qualification and experience

Thorough understanding and ability to establish and maintain a sterile environment using sterile techniques and infection control.
Working knowledge of human anatomy and surgical procedures.
Ability to articulate thoughts and express ideas clearly using oral, written, visual and non-verbal communication skills.
Collaborative with the ability to be a key team player and possess good interpersonal skills.
Ability to organize work so that tasks each to complete work on time, prioritize your projects and communicate your progress to supervisors and colleagues.
