A Storeroom Clerk plays a key role in managing inventory, ensuring that the hotel runs smoothly by maintaining stock levels, handling supplies, and keeping the storeroom organized.

JOB OVERVIEW:

A Storeroom Clerk plays a key role in managing inventory, ensuring that the hotel runs smoothly by maintaining stock levels, handling supplies, and keeping the storeroom organized. This position supports the operational needs of the hotel departments by tracking inventory and issuing goods as required.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Receive and verify deliveries against purchase orders, ensuring goods are in good condition and match the order specifications.
  • Store and arrange supplies in the correct locations within the storeroom to ensure easy access and efficient inventory management.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of stock levels, including quantities, types of items, and their locations.
  • Perform regular physical stock counts (inventory audits) to verify the accuracy of inventory records and ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO – First In, First Out).
  • Issue supplies to various hotel departments as requested, ensuring that proper documentation (requisition forms) is completed.
  • Track and log all issued items to ensure they are accounted for and properly distributed.
  • Ensure the proper handling and storage of materials to avoid waste or damage, especially for perishable or fragile items. monitor stock levels on an ongoing basis, ensuring that inventory does not run low on critical supplies.
  • Liaise with the purchasing department to reorder products and ensure timely replenishment of stock.
  • Ensure the storeroom is well-organized, clean, and adheres to safety and hygiene standards.
  • Follow safety guidelines for the storage and handling of hazardous materials, chemicals, or heavy equipment.
  • Monitor the condition of the storeroom, ensuring it is free from pests, hazards, and other issues that could impact the quality of the supplies.
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional qualifications in hospitality management, inventory control, or a related field are an advantage.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in inventory tracking and record-keeping.
  • Good communication skills to work effectively with colleagues, suppliers, and other departments.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy items, as well as handle materials safely.
