The Sous Chef/Kitchen Supervisor supports the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, overseeing food preparation, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Kitchen Operations

    • Assist the Head Chef in planning, organizing, and supervising all kitchen activities.
    • Ensure the timely preparation and delivery of high-quality dishes.
    • Monitor kitchen cleanliness and organization.
  2. Team Leadership

    • Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
    • Delegate tasks efficiently and ensure adherence to assigned responsibilities.
    • Assist with staff scheduling and performance evaluations.
  3. Menu & Food Preparation

    • Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop and refine menus.
    • Ensure all recipes and food preparation meet the establishment's standards.
    • Maintain consistency in presentation, portioning, and taste.
  4. Inventory & Cost Control

    • Manage inventory levels, monitor stock, and place orders as necessary.
    • Reduce waste and control food costs without compromising quality.
    • Conduct regular inventory checks and maintain accurate records.
  5. Health & Safety Compliance

    • Adhere to and enforce all health and safety regulations in the kitchen.
    • Maintain proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
    • Address and resolve any safety or hygiene concerns promptly.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef, Kitchen Supervisor, or similar role.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Flexible schedule, including availability on weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a hot environment.
  • Capability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
