We are hiring a Site Health and Safety Manager to ensure safe, compliant construction sites. Responsibilities include safety protocol development, site inspections, hazard mitigation, and training. Help build a proactive safety culture and reduce site incidents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with national OHS legislation and internal safety policies across construction sites.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor site-specific safety procedures and initiatives.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Enforce the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Lead safety inductions and provide continuous training to workers and site personnel.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports with corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, safety meetings, and training activities.
  • Work closely with site management, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure a shared commitment to safety.
  • Oversee emergency preparedness plans and ensure first aid protocols are well understood and accessible.
  • Stay informed of updates to OHS regulations, standards, and industry best practices. 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum: Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • OHS certification such as NEBOSH, OSHA, or a recognized equivalent (especially valid in Jamaica) is highly desirable.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong working knowledge of Jamaican occupational health and safety legislation and construction site regulations.
  • Proven ability to conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits.
  • Skilled in designing and delivering safety training and awareness programs.
  • Deep understanding of PPE standards, emergency procedures, and hazard control measures.
  • Proficiency with safety management tools and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and drawings from a safety perspective.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting, training, and team collaboration.
  • High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a proactive approach to identifying risks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, integrity, and a consistent commitment to workplace safety.
  • Ability to make quick and sound decisions under pressure, especially during emergencies.
  • Must reside in St. Ann or surrounding areas.

Experience:

  • 3–5 years of experience in a health and safety role within the construction industry.
  • Proven track record in managing or supporting safety programs on active construction sites.
  • Experience working with contractors and on-site personnel to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Live in the St. Ann’s location or its environs.
